Gosainkund Trek in Nepal You can also trek to Gosainkund Lake in the Langtang area, which is said to have been made by Lord Siva. It is a harder trek than the Annapurna or Langtang treks. You have to get from Dhunche at 1980m to Gosainkund at 4400m in two day, so attitude sickness can be a problem. You first take the bus from Kathmandu to Dhunche (8 hr), where the trek begins. Day 1 you climb to Sing Gompa (3250m). The next day you make the steep climb to Gosainkund. There are great views from a nearby summit at 5140m. At Laurebina Yak (3900m), there is a great view of the Himalayan from Annapurna in the west to Langtang and Lirung in the east. As the path can be tough at times, especially if there is snow on the ground, it may be a good idea to have a guide or porter. From Gosainkund you can either backtrack to Dhunche or proceed to Tharepati and connect this trek to the Helambu trek. To go to Tharepati you have to go over the Lauribina Pass and since the path can be tricky it is a good idea to have a guide. You can also do this trek by following the Helambu trek to Tharepati and then continue on to Gosainkund.
