Sesa Sayi Temple In this temple there is a five-thousand year old Deity of Garbhodaksayi Vishnu (Vishnu lying on Ananta Sesa) and Laksmi Devi. These Deities were installed by Vajranabha on the banks of Ksira Sagara Kunda. Ksira Sagara is the ocean of milk Once the gopis told Krishna that they would like to enjoy His pastimes as Vaikunthanath, the Lord of Vaikuntha. Lord Krishna agreed to this proposal and transformed Himself into Garbhodaksayi Vishnu and Lord Balarama transformed Himself into Ananta Sesa, Lord Vishnu’s eternal bedstead. Srimati Radharani transformed into Laksmi Devi. Another story about this temple that is told is that Krishna proclaimed to the gopis that he was Sesa Bhagavan, who sleeps on the bed of Ananta. The gopis immediately challenged Him to prove his boast by showing them. Krishna then called Ananta Sesa who came to the kunda here. Krishna laid on Him and the gopis saw that He was who He claimed He was. Then all the gopas and gopis were transformed into 33 million demigods and demi-goddesses. From the navel of Lord Krishna sprouted a lotus flower and all the gopas and gopis witnessed the pastime of Lord Brahma being generated. “After seeing the places of Lord Krishna’s pastimes, Sri Caitanya went to Sesa-Sayi, where He saw Laksmi and recited the following verse. ‘O dearly beloved! Your lotus feet are so soft that we place them gently on our breasts, fearing that Your feet will be hurt. Our life rests only in You. Our minds, therefore, are all filled with anxiety that Your tender feet might be wounded by pebbles as You roam about the forest path.’ This is a verse from Srimad Bhagavatam (10.31.19) spoken by the gopis when Krishna left them in the midst of the rasa-lila.” (Caitanya Caritamrita Madhya 18.64-65, with purport). How To Get Here To get here from Vrindavana, you first get on the Delhi-Agra Road going towards Delhi. You drive about 35km until you get to the town of Kosi. You then take a road going northeast about 15km until you reach Sesasayi. The road from Kosi to Sesasayi is very bad and it will take about an hour (or more) to drive the last 15 km. Once you get to the town of Kosi most people know where this place is located. It is best to come here by jeep. .
